For Whom the Bell Tolls - Ernest Hemingway

Premium Review classic literature!! (235 words)

Rating:

I've never read anything by Hemmingway, and i probably wouldn't have, but i live in Italy and when i went to the the local library searching for English or American novels "for whom the bell tolls" was the only one there, and i was not dissapointed. Whilst there he meets a group of banditos who are to aid him in his task, this is were the story begins really. It is full of emotion, sadness, pain and hope and is ...

For Whom the Bell Tolls - Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway the genius... (293 words)

friend that i read too many trash novels and i needed to read more classic literature. I knew they were right. I was recommended "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Ernest Hemingway. "a true classic, to expand your mind", i was told. When i saw the size of the book it almost put me off. But i persevered, and the more i read, the better it got. The story is about Robert Jordan, a young man whose mission it is to blow a bridge in the Spanish Civil War. Doesn't sound too interesting, but the war depends on whether the bridge is destroyed or not. It deals with a lot of human emotion and a lot of courage. i wont ruin the story by telling what happens at the ...
