After leaving the disastrously dangerous lumbermill, Mr Poe finally places the Baudelaire's in an environment he should have done long ago, school. The Baudelaire's join their new school called Prufrock Prepatory. The schools motto is "Remember You Will Die" which is an ominous sign of what is to come later in the book. It is here that they meet twins Duncan and Isadora Quagmire (I should say triplets, since there was another Quagmire namely Quigley, however they believe he is dead). They quickly became friends as they shared common past experiences, their parents (Quagmires) and Quigley died in a fire just like the Baudelaire's parents.
