One thing that Amazon's good for is keeping track of what people's reading habits are. I know it's a pretty hit and miss affair, but if you browse by category on amazon.co.uk you can see for each category what's selling (and what ain't). In the case of porn (or erotica as they prefer to call it), the top slot for years has been Story of O - which is generally acknowledged to be one of the real classics of SM literature.
