Advantages: fantastic story, well written
Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
This is the best book I have EVER read! I don't think I can eplain how brilliant it is you just have to read it and see.
If you have read the Kite Runner you will have an idea of Khaled Hosseini's brilliance. The Kite Runner was outstanding and I didn't think I could find a better book but I was wrong, this is better!
The story is about a friendship that develops between two women in Afganistan. The book effortlessly flips between one woman's story and then the other woman's story helping you to get to know each character in detail. They don't meet until much later in the book and at the beginning it is hard to see how their paths are going to cross but it is sheer brilliance on the authors part.
I really souldn't put this book down. The way the writer helps you get to know each character is ingenious. I warn you, it is seriousy sad and I actually burst into tears when reading it but that is another thing that makes it so wonderful. How many authors can make you so attached to the characters that you are able to cry real tears for them.
Amazing!
