Advantages: When I picked up the book.

Disadvantages: When the story ended

This book is so beautiful. One of my favourite books ever. It all happened when I was at the airport in WHSmiths, before boarding and picked up 'The Kite Runner' which I read during the plane. So amazed with the way Khaled Hosseini writes, I ordered A Thousand Splendid Suns from Amazon (which you can get for £3.99 = DEAL!)

The storyline is about Mariam and Laila and describes how 2 lives become one when they are intertwined together under brutal husband, Rasheed who physically abuses both women from Afghanistan. The story is split into four parts, which I find it really creative to do so and it is told from different perspectives, from Mariam and Laila which makes it easier to understand.

The descriptions are beautiful and the historical knowledge is also really fascinating as being me, I know little about history. The ending is uplifting although traumatic too. The worst part was when the story ended. I have not read a book THIS good ever since, which is a shame. Sorry to all Twilight lovers but it's been in the amazon charts for months now and yes, I have read books 1 and 2 myself but it is repetitive and the speech written by Meyer is too common and boring. The films are good though. They are also filming A Thousand Splendid Suns which is great news as having watched 'The Kite Runner' by Hosseini, it was not a let down.

Definitely recommend you to read this book. You will not regret it.

Summary: Themes on love, heartbreak, political issues
