Advantages: Easy, colourful and simple to read
Disadvantages: A couple mistakes seen
The A-2 level Chemistry guide is a funny, witty and great way to get revising for the chemistry exam.
Chemistry at A level is, in my opinion a very hard subject to get to grips with, with very complex theory and lots of diagrams to remember as well as all sorts of definitions. This book has incredibly helped me, much more than I could have ever hoped for. Before I go into it, I'll point out that it covers mainly the A-2 level of the course and that an AS one is also available.
The revision guide is a fully coloured, easy and simple book which gets straight to the point. It has saved me countless hours of skimming over complex and boring books and explains things nicely and simply. It is written by experts who are currently headteachers in chemistry and past examiners. On each page there is a clear heading, subheading, funny cartoons to take the edge off the tedious study and loads of little jokes and captions throughout the pages.
The book though isn't just one big joke. It's a perfect balance between some light humour and serious study. There are loads of diagrams to back up ideas, practical experiments, worked examples and some questions to reinforce knowledge. It can be used to help with every exam board and even tells you whether you need to study a certain area depending on your exam board ie (edexcel can skip this page) etc, although always best to check with your teacher.
I've only spotted 2 mistakes in the book which ofc is bad but easy to spot. (was to do with the naming of a compound). There are over 100 pages of easy to read theory and the mark scheme to the questions are included in the back. Many of my friends use this book and think it's great, and those who don't have it wish they did. It can only help towards a good grade in chemistry and I am very happy and grateful I have it.
Summary: A great tool towards revision
