In these days of satellite navigation, is the old fashioned road atlas redundant? Well not to me. I do have a sat-nav, but I like to see where I'm going to go, rather than mindlessly follow directions from a disembodied voice. Also, being an ex Boy Scout, I like to 'be prepared' for when the sat-nav crashes, and I have at least a chance of finding my way home! For me, a road atlas is an essential purchase, but also an item that needs to be just right. Road atlases vary widely in size and quality. The AA Big Road Atlas of Britain suits my needs perfectly.
