“Don’t judge a book by its cover”, they say, but ‘they’ forget to quote the second, less well-known part of the proverb, “…unless it’s a travel guide”. Travel guides should be able to handle being taken in and out of bags and being read outdoors in less than favourable atmospheric conditions and still retain their good-looks. So, how did my guide to Barcelona perform? On this aspect, it did very well indeed. It was a constant companion for the 9 days we spent in Barcelona, having been consulted extensively beforehand, and is still attractive enough that I might want to look at it when I want to reminisce (or with luck plan my next trip…). ...
