Marcus is twelve, his mother a manic depressent, his father?? whi cares??

Will is 36, his job??doesnt have one. income per year?? £40000 how?? his dad wrote a song he lives off the royalties. Girlfreind's name? doesnt hae one. Lives with no-one. Fantasises a loMarcus is not your usual boy. Hes not allowed to play on a games console, watch rude films, eat meat, dress correctly,Go out with mates, read comics. Hes pretty not allowed to do anything. Why? his mom wont let him. He parents are divorced. Marcus is bullied at school because of the clothes he wears, the way he ats and what he does he has no friends. He thins like an adult. Her doesnt realise this but yet he doesnt care.

Will lives alone. He has no education, Thinks he's dead cool. He makes up lies to get women into bed with him. he lives off the royalties that the song his dad wrote gets him. after sleeping with a single mother. hes hooked, he wants more, he leads a life of betraly and lies. All this changes when he meets marcus and his mother.

Will starts off by going to a club called spat (single parents all alone). To get in he makes up that he has a two yer old son called Ned. When he gets here he meets marcus's mom andher friend called suzie. He finds sticking to this story very hard and ends up having to buy car sets and baby toys to make things more convincing.

Then he meets marcus. He under stands his problem although his mother does not. Will begins to like marcus and take him in, and as the book says' teach him to be cool'

the plot is great and so many unthinkable thins happen, so i wont give the details away.

RThis book is basicallyabout how fantasys become nightmares, Kids become aware and the genral reality f lie. Its funny sad and a damn good read. I would read it again and again and again, if i wernt stuk to nich hornbys other books.

I thought this was the best of Hornby's books. I haven't read the latest one yet, though ...

Quick tip, try writing your opinions in Word first and then paste them into DooYoo, it will cut out the typos and spelling errors.

On the subject of the book, I found this dissapointing when compared to Hornby's earlier novels.
