There has never been a comics series quite like Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library. On a sheer technical level, Ware's cartooning, draughtsmanship and page design are simply stunning. There's one (of many!) memorable page where if you look at the page as a whole you can see that it shows a house. However, each panel of the page (which break down the house into squares) shows that portion of the house at a different point in time, from its construction to its dereliction. You can dwell on this page for minutes at a time, reading between the lines and coming to sense something of the history of the house. And that's just one page! Ware uses ...
