Airframe. Michael Crichton (1996). Now you may well know that, sadly, Michael Crichton died last year, depriving us of a prolific, talented and awarded write, director and producer. This is not a review of the man, though that would be comprehensive itself. I have read much of his work and enjoyed it and absolutely loved ER the series as well. After his death last year I decided to read anything by him that I hadn't read, and Airframe is one such book. In fact, I have only about 4 books to read left of his....I would certainly recommend 'State of Fear' as one of his finest, though let's concentrate on the book in ... Read the complete review

Released in 1996 this is another of Michael Crichton's best selling novels. Airframe is however very different from many of the other books that Crichton has written either before or since (with the possible exception of Disclosure) but reminds me throughout the book of a Arthur Hailey novel. Ordinarily, his novels are based around a subject that is both highly controversial as well in emerging technologies (ie, Jurassic Park/Next). That way he can put his own spin on things to show how things can go awry if these technologies are not controlled properly.
