I found this book in an exchange shop in India. I stopped for a cold drink in a restaurant and opened this book to find myself hours later finishing it right there and then. I could not put it down.

It is the magical story of an Andalusian Shepard boy who has a desire to travel in search of a worldly treasure. From his home is Spain he journeys to the markets of North Africa and into the Egyptian desert where he encounters the alchemist. It is written like a mystical fairy tale and so easy to read but is filled with beautiful messages about listening to our hearts and intuition and following our dreams.

I had heard about this book for years before reading it and had no idea what it was about. Inspirational and a pure delight to read this is possibly the best book I’ve ever read. Read it and give it to a good friend!
