Accessible and feminist! (Alias Grace - Margaret Atwood)
Advantages: compelling, informative, haunting Disadvantages: time-consuming
Atwood has developed over her writing career to become Canada's foremost woman writer. Her early book "The Handmaid's Tale", a staple of A-Level literature students, earned her, rightly or wrongly, the title of 'feminist'. In fact, she was inspired to write it after a visit to Afghanistan in the seventies. She was one of the last westerners to leave before Al Qaida, about whom we all now know so much, began their terrible reign. Summary: |
