... and when mum comes out to get the washing in, they scarper quickly before they're seen. It ends by telling kids to check their underpants for aliens in case they're lurking in them! It's a very well written story, presented in rhyme. It reads easily and doesn't try to do anything tricky. What I like about it is that it makes light of a potentially scary subject for kids - aliens. The illustration by Ben Cort are fun and colourful, and the alien drawings are imaginative and cheeky. Aliens Love Underpants is a lovely and silly children's tale from author Claire Freedman and illustrated by Ben Cort. It has won the Richard and Judy's Children's Books Award for the 5+ category, and although our son is 4, he loves this book, mainly because the aliens make him laugh! The book tells of the real reason for aliens coming to earth, which is that they love the variety of underpants we have, from granny's frilly bloomers to mum's pink knickers! They try them on and play with them and get chased by the dog, and when mum comes out to get the washing in, they scarper quickly before they're seen. It ends by telling kids to check their underpants for ...

I've recently been visiting my daughter, son-in-law and my lovely grandson Jack to celebrate his third birthday and to spend some time with my family. I live in South Wales and they live in London, so each visit means that I probably pay much more attention to Jack than if he lived near me. This is an important point I am making as I see how much he has changed since the last time I saw him and also I am more conscious of his reaction to various things. This year he is finally old enough to grasp the concept of presents and how they relate to him. He is still unsure about ripping open the paper though...he is a bit of a tidiness fanatic. I bought him some ...
