Put a train on the front cover of a book and my son is sold, so we picked this one up from the library the other day. This story is about a tiger who is upset he got no presents for his birthday, so gets taken on a journey on a lot of different types of vehicle. The illustrations are the best thing about this book. They sprawl across the double page which means you lose a little in the crease of the spine, but it's nice to see books do this as it gives you lots and lots to look at which you don't get so much these days. The pics are bright, colourful and imaginative and in many ways more entertaining than the text. The story itself is OK. ... Read the complete review

This is another book that we picked up from the library this week. Noah saw it on the shelf and went wild at the picture of the train on the front cover so we just had to get it stamped and put it in his book bag. The book is written by Ian Whybrow and is fantastically illustrated by David Melling. It was written in 2001 and was published by Hodder Children's books. The story is about a tiger who is rather upset because he didn't get a present from anyone on his birthday so Miss Lollipop takes him on a journey in lots of different vehicles to try and cheer him up.
