Almost a Crime - Penny Vincenzi

I have to admit that this would not be my normal choice of reading matter but I was laid up for a few days with the flu and a friend handed this in for me to read, she told me it had been hanging around in her house for about 6 years having been read three times in the time she had owned it and she promised me it was a great read. I found myself finishing the book in a little over two days, partly because I had no energy to do anything but read and partly because I could not put it down. I read this book from cover to cover in three days. I found it compelling and it contained all the ingredients neede to make a book. It is a story of a typical high flying couple deeply in love but, with their careers taking different twists and turns, eventually the marriage regarded as a power marriage fails after the husband has an affair with the wifes best friend. The friend later abducts the couples baby after losing her own child. It is tear jerking at times and sometimes I had to hold myself back from screaming at the characters! This book extends the mind in many ways. The perfect power marriage success and money rule. Attractive people who are rich and have everything. Then consequences that are potentially fatal to all of this take place turning lives up side down. Everyone is effected in one way or another damaging lives and leading to terror and danger.
