I recently bought An Offer You Can't Refuse by Jill Mansell from a local charity shop for a bargain price of a £1. I had previously read Rumour Has It and had really enjoyed it. Here is a brief description of the plot. Lola is in a happy relationship with Dougie and everything is going well until one day Dougie's mother offers Lola £10,000 to leave her son alone. Horrified by the suggestion she refuses but when she gets home something happens that forces Lola to change her mind. Years later by chance Lola meets Dougie again but he is still hurt that she left him and he doesn't want anything to do with her. Can Lola change his mind after everything ...  Read the complete review

I've read quite a few of Jill Mansell's books now and have enjoyed the vast majority of them so I whipped this one off the shelf of my local library when I spotted it a few weeks ago. ***THE PLOT ** As a seventeen-year-old, Lola was in love with boyfriend Dougie and truly believed that they would be together forever. When his snobby mother Adele offers her £10,000 to dump him, she is adamant that she won't be forced into giving him up ... until unexpected circumstances mean that she's forced to admit defeat and take the money. Years later, a grown-up Lola encounters Adele again purely by chance and is floored that her feelings for Dougie are ...  Read the complete review

An Offer You Can't Refuse - Jill Mansell: Would You Refuse? (573 words)

My mum brought this book to read on holiday this year. After she read it within 3 days, I could not resist picking it up myself and having a read. The amount of time I spent on the sun lounger that holiday was ridiculous - I could not take my eyes off the pages! I am a big reader when it comes to holidays, car journeys and in the bath. I am not really fussy with authors, although I do have personal favourites. I had never really read any books by Jill Mansell, but now I am currently working my way through a selection of hers. I have found there to be around 18 books - so I have plenty more! The book is also written in 3rd person, making for an easier read, ...  Read the complete review

Another wonderful novel from Jill Mansell! (163 words)

Rating:

Having fallen in love with Jill Mansell's style of writing, I could not wait to read her latest novel, An Offer You Can't Refuse. Everything from the characters to the story line was brilliant and this was due to Mansell's wonderful depiction of the plot which consists of a number of events centered in and around the payment the main character Lola cannot refuse from her boyfriends rude mother, in order for lola to stay away from her precious son. A number of years later, fate intervenes and Lola realizes her feelings are more than strong for Dougie but now what does she do? Throughout the novel the reader is taken on a whirlwind of events that twist and turn ...  Read the complete review
