I quite like trying new authors occasionally, especially those who have been around in the writing world for a long time. So when I was offered a swap on Read It Swap It and I saw the user was offering the new Jill Mansell book, I decided to go ahead with that one and my new hardback arrived in the post the next day and I set to reading it straight away. An Offer You Can't Refuse tells us the story of Lola Malone. At the start of the book, Lola is a 17 year old girl in love with her boyfriend Dougie. But when Dougie's mother offers her £10,000 to break up with her son, Lola takes the money and leaves Dougie well alone. But she gets a shock ten years later when ... Read the complete review

Lola is ticking along as your average 17 year old, working in a not-very-inspiring job, spending her spare time with the-love-of-her-life Dougie and generally getting by quite well, thank you very much. Dougie's mother might not be quite as smitten with Lola as Lola is with her son, but you can't have everything. What she hadn't banked on, however, was how much his mother disliked her - generally far too posh to say such things out loud, it had escaped Lola's notice until right now when Mrs Tennant comes right out and says it. And that's not all she says - she has an offer for Lola: leave my son, let him go off to uni and don't follow him, and this cheque for £10,000 is ... Read the complete review

== Jill Mansell: An Offer you Can't refuse == == Introduction== I bought this book a while back from the book club which I use. I started reading Jill Mansell books a while ago when I read two of her books, _Millie's Fling_ and _Miranda's Big Mistake_, both of which I fell in love with, and although not the type of books I "couldn't put down", they were great reads and lasted me a good week or so to finish, meaning I wasn't sitting up until 4am trying to finish the books! So when I saw she had many other books, I decided to buy her two newest: _An offer you can't refuse_ and _Rumour Has it_, this book was the first one I have read of ... Read the complete review

Having fallen in love with Jill Mansell's style of writing, I could not wait to read her latest novel, An Offer You Can't Refuse. Everything from the characters to the story line was brilliant and this was due to Mansell's wonderful depiction of the plot which consists of a number of events centered in and around the payment the main character Lola cannot refuse from her boyfriends rude mother, in order for lola to stay away from her precious son. A number of years later, fate intervenes and Lola realizes her feelings are more than strong for Dougie but now what does she do? Throughout the novel the reader is taken on a whirlwind of events that twist and turn ... Read the complete review
