A very imaginative story for a novel written in 1969. Classic Crichton this is as one of his first novels, before his work was clouded by the truth about technology, in a time where his wacky new ideas about the Government and its power to cover-up situations such as the one in the story we're quite far-fetched. This story is fictional, though it took me some time before I realised it was written in retrospect, documenting the five days of project Wildfire. Story -------------- The year is 1968. A Cold War looms ahead, and the American military has a very out-of-this-world idea; that pathogens could be collected from outer-space to be used in ...  Read the complete review

This is a weird book! At the start, the author claims that this is a true story. But then you question it because if it was, then he wouldn’t be allowed to write about it because it is about the secret experiments that the Government of the United States carried out during the 60’s. I have checked the author’s website and he claims that he started this as fiction, but it turned out that it was a true story afterall. In the Acknowledgements section the author does thank enough people of importance to make you believe it is a true story. The book was written in 1969 and it "recounts the five-day history of a major American Scientific ...  Read the complete review

Glorious art, British comics at their best. Stories are a little simplistic by todays standards

Sci-Fi & Fantasy - Butterworth, Mike

Sci-Fi & Fantasy - Baxter, Stephen - Clarke, Arthur C.

Straightforward space opera tale quirkily executed, interesting written format allows a large cast of characters to be defined purposefully, reasonably well-realised, if rather unconvincing, galactic civilisation. Lack of any real ideas at the heart of the bookover-reliance on violence to further the story (although, of course, this is a book about a war!)barely above average pulp science fiction.

Sci-Fi & Fantasy - Dick, Philip K.

A powerful and fascinating tale of Good versus Evil with a fascinating central character. None whatsoever ... a great novel for both Star Wars fans and Non Star Wars fans.
