BACKGROUND: We live, it appears, in the age of the “Super Celebrity”. The characteristics of this type of celebrity is a hunger for world domination, an intense restlessness and a clear “grass is greener” attitude . Not content with one career, these ambitious celebrities like to try their hand at every career possible and dip their toe in all waters. From acting and singing to fashion design and presenting, whether trained, qualified or even talented, these celebrities will drift through the tick-list at ease. The negative aspect of this new movement is that with the rise of the Super Celebrity there has also been a growth in public cynicism. These ... Read the complete review

'Angel' is the 2006 debut novel from British Glamour Model and Television presenter Katie Price a.k.a Jordon. Ghostwritten by Rebecca Farnworth. "Eighteen-year-old Angel has only one dream: to leave behind the sheltered safety of her home and head for the modelling agencies of the big city. Young, beautiful and sexy, she seems destined for a successful career in modelling and, very quickly, the glitzy world of celebrity fame and riches becomes her new home. I had this book free with a copy of a magazine and it sat unopened for months. I finally decided to give it a go after getting a headache reading too much Stephen Fry. I did not expect much from it at all but it actually was not too bad. It is essentially about the early career of a glamour model and her love life, or should that be sex life (more on that later). I know nothing about glamour modelling though so who am I to say that this is not realistic. I guess that in essence it is a lesson about getting what ... Read the complete review

By writing this review I know I will get comments about the fact I chose to read the book in the first place as I know not everyone is Katie Price's favourite fan but after reading all of her autobiographies I really wanted to know if she really had the skills to pull of writing a fictional novel and when "Angel" was released I waited a few months before I got the book via the online book swapping site "readitswapit." Forget who the author is and just read the book you might be suprised. *~*About the Author*~* For those of you not familiar with Katie Price she is a glamour model with the fictional name of ... Katie Price - Angel So, for those of you that don't know, Katie Price is the real name of the mega-famous glamour model, Jordan. I wouldn't call myself a fan of hers, but I've watched the occasional documentary of her and Peter Andre and have come to the conclusion that underneath everything she actually seems like quite a nice, normal girl. Anyway, I must admit, when I heard she was about to enter the field of writing, I was doubtful at how good her skills may be. But! 'Company' magazine did a lovely offer in which Angel was free with their magazine, and right before my summer holiday as well, so I would have been sill not to give it a ... Read the complete review
