Advantages: easy to read, easy to get involved, emotional and sincere

Disadvantages: depressive most of the time

I have recently received a present from my husband who has irish roots (am myself is russian) and was very captivated by the story of Angela`s Ashes. It is very easy to read when it comes to language and it just drags you into the depressive story of a family struggling with money during the way time. It is a bit dark story but it has a genuine and sincere feel to it and as long as you are not thick it has no other chance but to touch you. Apart from drama story book is loaded with background information on irish history and culture so that its very informative indeed. I did not see the movie myself but the book definitely leaves a very strong impression on level of peoples life difficulty. It brough the memories of my own ussr childhood back and I was trying to compare. Smile. Well, it is usefull indeed to reestimate the way you were brough up and luck in a way

Summary: Good reading that makes you think and reevaluate your own life
