Advantages: Moves the reader through a variety of emotions

Disadvantages: None, unless you have seen the film first!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the novel 'Angela's Ashes', though I wish that I had read it before I went to see the film, because although the film was thoroughly enjoyable, it wasn't very true to the book.

'Angela's Ashes' was a touching, yet humourous book that led its reader through a variety of emotions. Frank McCourt appeared genuine and he allows his readers a priveleged insight into the struggles of his childhood, both in having to conform to the Catholic faith and financial hardships of his family.

If you only read one book this year, let this be the one.....

I also find Angelas' Ashes to be an enjoyable read, but I must admit that I have been put off by the fact that Frank McCourt has been accused of making up most of the book. Now I am aware that it is not strictly a true story my opinion has changed. Although it is still a fantastic book I do feel a little cheated by the author of this, what I believed to be, biography.
