Simply could not put it down....and I never read! It takes some marbles to write such a hard-hitting book, that contains murders of Cardinals and the Pope, explosive weapons inside the Vatican, and the revealing of Christianity´s biggest secrets! However, all of these points mean one thing...a very, VERY good book. Robert Langdon, a Harvard Professor, travels with Vittoria to the Vatican city, after her father was found murdered with the logo of an ancient satanic brotherhood, the "Illuminati" branded onto his body. I really have to be careful here with what I say, as I would hate to ruin it for you, but the father of Vittoria had just made a ground ... Read the complete review

Angels and Demons is the "prequel" to the Da Vinci Code - the first adventure to feature the character of Robert Langdon. I read the Da Vinci Code well before all the hype, and found it very disappointing. To me, it was a badly written book which proved dull, predictable and lacking in excitement. True, I was already aware of the central themes of the book, so the "surprise" revelations didn't come as a shock to me, in the way they might have to other people and that might have robbed the book of some of its "shock value". In the interests of fairness, then, I decided to give Dan Brown another go and turned to Angels and ... Read the complete review

Dan Brown’s ‘The Da Vinci Code’ is probably the most talked-about and best selling novel of the last few months. Its success has spurred many readers to investigate his earlier novels. Here I’ll make a small suggestion. My wife bought ‘DVC’ first and devoured its 560 pages in about 24 hours, then went out and bought his other titles. I started to read it but was so preoccupied with other things at the time that I couldn’t concentrate and out it aside after about a hundred pages to return to later. Some weeks afterwards, she had caught up with the backlist and recommended I read ‘Angels and Demons’ first. A few other online reviews I’ve read elsewhere said ... Read the complete review

Before there was the huge sales success that was "The Da Vinci Code", there was "Angels and Demons". Although "Angels & Demons" only came to prominence thanks to the attention and sales "The Da Vinci Code" generated, it had been written and published first. Strangely, I find it to be the best of the three (including his latest, "The Lost Symbol") Robert Langdon novels thus far, perhaps because it was written without the same weight of expectation hanging over it. In Switzerland, a prominent scientist who is working on anti-matter is found murdered, with a strange symbol burned into his chest. His recent ... Read the complete review

I confess I may well be the last person on this planet to have read this book, but in my defence I have already watched the film and just hadn't gotten around to returning the book to my sister (I have only had it for nearly two years!), so after perusing my choice of read I decided that I would just read it and return it! The book in question is - "Angels and demons by Dan Brown". Robert Langdon has long since been considered the first port of call when it comes to symbols and there origins, so when world renowned scientist is found brutally murdered complete with a mysterious symbol branded to his chest, Robert is asked to come and ...
