There is a legendary secret society known as the illuminati that believed in science and were critical of the blind faith of the catholic church. Surprise surprise they still exist but it is Robert Langdone who uncovers this. Yes the same robert langdon of da vinci code fame.
A top scientist is found dead with his eyes missing and the symbol of the illuminati burnt into his chest. Throw in a direct threat to the vatican city and you have all the hallmarks of a thrilling story.
Dan Brown at his best i found this a much better story than the Da Vinci code. It is well written and it become obvious that it has been well researched. The plot is clever and well put together.
if you like action in your reading this does not disappoint with body after body being brutally murdered. The story is believable and with some of the mystery that still shrouds the inner workings of the vatican city being used in the plot it adds strength to the story line.
This has recently been released as a film and i hope that it is as good as the book.
