Howard Elias has forged himself a hugely successful career representing clients in their civil actions against the police. There are not many policeman who have not had the daunting experience of facing Elias across a courtroom, when he sues Elias adopts the policy of naming everyone, from the cop on the beat, his superior officers, the chief of police and the city itself, he will even sue the people who trained the offending officer. For Elias every win is a success no matter it the compensation award is only a dollar because once he wins he gets to bill the city. I’m a reader – always have been always will be but sometimes I just don’t get the time to read as much as I would like! Then came the solution being a dual income household with only one car! The result is that I get the bus home from work and that’s about enough time to read 60 pages so a book takes nearly a week before I move on to the next! Anyway, my family all being readers buy books by the dozen at boot fairs and charity shops and we lend them out on a very regular basis! Luckily we all share the same tastes give or take a few spurious authors! We just so happened to stumble across Michael Connelly by mistake! We though we were ... Read the complete review

Angel's Flight is a book in the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. Connelly is a great crime fiction writer and these books are all based in the Hollywood division of Los Angeles where the main character Bosch is a homicide detective after being demoted from the prestigous Robbery Homicide team. In this book Bosch finds himself investigating the murder of Howard Elias a lawyer who specialises in cases bought by mostly black prople against police officers and Elias no holds bared approach as made him a lot of enemies amongst the police so it is an assignment from hell for Bosch as many of his current and former partners are under suspiscion. LA riots seem certain. Black lawyer Howard Elias forecast his death at the hands of a LA cop and now he's been brutally murdered. The public thinks a cop did it. The police chief also suspects the killer is one of his officers. The investigation has to be seen to be thorough. But they'd rather it didn't succeed or LA will go up in flames. Elias was just about to take the LA police to court on a high profile case alleging they?d tortured a suspect to make him confess to a nasty child rape-murder. They plan a high profile investigation that takes time till tempers calm and then gets no where. Harry Bosch is given the unenviable task, and to hinder ... Read the complete review
