Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging - Louise Rennison

Enitially I bought this book 'Angus Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging' after seeing a few friends reading it and reccomending it, but never thought that I would end up loving the books and accumilating every single one in the collection! The first book if based on the life of a school girl, Georgia Nicolson. She is a teenager, so as you may guess this is a typicel teengage book, going through all the 'difficulties' of 'growing up;, including friend ship bust ups, the wierd world of boys, families, etc! Angus, thongs and full frontal snogging, you may think that this is a sex book designed for women over the age of 16 from the title, but it is actually a teenage comedy book, (but you would be right in thinking that it is a women’s book) about a cat that cannot control who he gets pregnant (Angus the cat), thongs - seeing your enemy wear them, and never having snogged a member of the opposite sex before; so that you go insane and end up having snogging lessons from someone you don’t like so much. I got Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging a short while after I went to see the movie at the cinema. The movie was great and really made me laugh - but the book is on a whole different level! I found a really good deal from 'The Book People' and bought the whole collection (well, it was the whole collection then, but there have been another two books since then). I didn't even know if they'd be any good or not but to be honest I am always reading and had read everything on my shelf at least 4 times! I read this book at the age of 14 and I have to say I could 100% relate to the main character, in fact me and my best friend became extremely suspicious as the story wore on that we were being followed, and many of our idiotic dances, attempts to snare boys and ways to avoid detention were being copied and published in this fantastically funny book. If you are a teenager, buy this book, it is laugh-out-loud material and the first in a series of around 10 books. (I've only got the last one left to read now!) As a woman of 39, (my birthday last month), You may think it odd that I would read this book as it is aimed more at teenagers. My teenage daughter was reading it and telling me how great it was so I picked it up one day and had a flick through. I started reading it and within a week I had read it and thought it was brilliant. A week sounds like a long time to read a book, but with a two year old son and a 10 week old puppy in the house with me, it takes that long to read a newspaper!
