As a child one of my favourite authors was Lucy Daniels. Even now I love her collection of books, known as Animal Ark. It is a collection about a girl named Mandy Hope, with two parents as vets. One of the titles is Badger in the Basement.

The cover of a book is the first thing you see so naturally it needs to be attractive. I'd say that this particlar book ticks that box. It is an orangey colour, very attractive, with a picture of an adorable little badger lying in straw. He looks so sweet and innocent, you cant help but fall in love with it at first sight!

The book is about Mandy and her best friend James. They find a destroyed badger home in the woods, and along with it there is an abandoned badger cub. They need to save it and try and sort their home, but will they manage?

I'd say this is a delightful little plot. It is quite interesting and has a lot of action in it, so it does not droan on too much! It is perfect for children aged 8 to 13 I would personally say. The text itself is a nice size so they do not strain their eyes, and the language is quite straight forward so it will not bore them since they will understand it. Though it also makes a great light read for adults, I personally feel, as it is nice and easy. It is a great little story which does not require much thinking for the mature brain which makes a great read at night when there is nothing on TV!

You can buy this book instores for £5.99, but I would not say you should pay that. You can actually buy it on Amazon.co.uk for just 1p, and even with the £2.75 postage and packaging charges, I would say it is still amazing! It is definitely going to be money well spent if you buy it.

This is a favourite of mine and I have read it quite a few times. If you are a fan of badgers, animals or the book series in general, then this is definitely worth having on your book shelf!
