Since I was tiny I have adored animals. So when I discovered the delights of the Animal Ark books, written by author Lucy Daniels, I simply had to have them all! One I had in my collection was Bears in a Barn.

The first thing you notice with a book is the cover so it is important that it makes a good first impression. Thankfully, this cover is quite appealing. Rather than seeing an image of scary bears gritting their teeth at us as I had imagined, you will actually see a delighful picture of two little brown bears. It is definitely one that draws me in, they look so adorable!

The story itself is about Mandy Hope and her best friend James. They are camping when they spot some bears. The bears are away from their home and there is a lot of traffic and other dangers going about. It is up to Mandy to rescue them but can she manage, or is it simply far too dangerous?

This plot is quite enjoyful, I personally feel, and you can almost feel you are part of the action. I feet it is an ideal plot for children of aged 8 to 12. The writing in the book is a nice size and the language is nice and straight forward so it will not be a complete struggle for the less confident readers! It is also good for adults and older readers too, as it makes a nice light read when you just fancy something simple! I personally love this as a light read and often go back to it. It's such a complex yet to the point story, its amazing. It is good for the less confident reader too, helping to build their abilities and hopefully encourage them to eventually progress onto something a little more challenging.

You can buy this book in stores for £5.99, such as WHSmith and Waterstones. However you can now buy it from Amazon.co.uk for as little as 1p! Even with the £2.21 postage and packaging fee, I personally feel that it is a great price to be paying and I would definitely recommend you buy it from here, especially as you can often get it as good as new.

Although I'm not overly fond of bears I did enjoy this story. It was a nice read and would be perfect for bear fanatics. But it is also good for those who are just fans of the series or animals in general.
