I love reading, I always have done. As a child I had a selection of favourite authors. One of the ones I loved the most was Lucy Daniels. She wrote the Animal Ark books about a girl named Mandy Hope, who was a huge animal lover with two 'vet parents'. I too am a huge animal lover, so I adore these books! One of them is Foals in the Field.

Now the cover of the book is the first thing you are going to see, so it is important that it gives a good first impression for you. Thankfully, I personally feel that this one is quite adorable! You can see two horses, both gorgeous dark colours with beautifu markings. It looks very peaceful and relaxing, definitely one to draw you straight in.

The book itself is about Mandy and her best friend James. The two foals are born in a run down farm and while its owner has to build it up it's up to Mandy and James to take care of the sick foals. But if the farm is not sorted soon the foals will have to go...

This is a very enjoyable plot, it does pull at your heart a little as you think about the poorly horses. However it was a good read, I cannot deny that. I've read this, like a few others, a few times since the first and it is always a delight. I personally feel that it is ideal for children, around the age range of 8 to 13. The writing is a good size so they do not need to strain their eyes to read it. The language is nice and simple too, but is not so easy that they would get bored with it. It is a delightful read for anybody older too, making a nice and light read when you want something to the point and simple.

This book can be be bought in stores for around £5.99, such as WHSmith and Waterstones. While that price is not too bad, you are able to purchase it from Amazon.co.uk for just 1p. Even with the £2.21 postage and packaging charges, that is still pretty delightful! If I did not already own the book, I would highly recommend!

This is a very sweet read, and is ideal for horse lovers. There are a few horse books in the Animal Ark colletion and this is definitely one of the more enjoyable ones. It is perfect for animal lovers all over and is definitely worth the read.
