From an early age I have been an avid reader. I used to love a lot of 'collections' as a child, such as The Jolly Postman, Mr Men books, and of course the Animal Ark series. These amazing books written by Lucy Daniels is a collection about an animal lover named Mandy Hope. One of the titles is Koalas in a Crisis.

The cover of the book is very important, I feel, as it is when we make our first impressions. I personally think that this particular book is one that melts you straight away. We can see a picture of a mother koala climbing a tree, with her little baby koala on her back. Its very sweet and certainly made me 'aww' straight away. I couldnt wait to read.

The book is about Mandy and how she visits an animal sanctuary. She loves the koalas and spends a lot of time around them. But she is shocked to learn that they are in danger. Can Mandy save the koalas from being hurt and starved before its too late?

One thing I find with these books is that there is always an exciting plot, and this one is no exception.! It is very quick paced and busy, but still easy to follow. That is why I feel it is perfect for children aged 8 to 13 years of age. Also, the text is a good size so they will not strain their eyes to read it, and with the clear and basic language so they will not fret if they cannot understand it. It is also a good light read for adults though as it is a nice and simple story with no serious thinking involved! If you are not a confident reader then it is definitely going to be good for you too.

If you go into a book store you, such as WHSmith or Waterstones, can expect to pay around £5 for this, but I would recommend that you actually go to Amazon.co.uk. There, you can pay just 1p! Even with the £2.21 postage and packaging fee, I personally feel that it is a wonderful price.

This is a delightful edition to the Animal Ark book series. I adore koalas and this story is certainly satisfying! It's definitely worth a read if you are an animal or koala fan, and I am sure it will not disappoint.
