The book itself is about Mandy Hope, whose parents are vets. She and James come across a piglet who is the runt of the litter. He is unwanted by his farm so they try and turn him from a runt into a prize-winning pig but can they succeed?
This is a delightful story and always makes me think of Charlotte's Web for some reason! It is ideal, I personally feel, for children aged 8 to 13. The text itself is a nice size, and the language is to the point. ...more |

When I was younger I always had my nose in a book. Being the huge animal lover I was (and still am), I often chose to read books about animals. The Animal Ark book series by Lucy Daniels was very popular with me, and one of the titles was Piglet in the Playpen. Although you should never judge a book by its cover, I always do, so it is important that it looks good! Thankfully this one does.
