I picked up George Orwell's Animal Farm feeling rather sceptical about reading it, I prefer to read more modern books and I'm not really a fan of George Orwell. However I thoughly enjoyed this book. "Animal Farm" was chosen by Time Magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. This is a prize that I think it really does deserve as it has something that a lot of modern novels lack. It is a very contraversial book about the manipulation of society. It is thought that some of Orwell's character may represent those who were manipulating society at the time. When I read this book I didn't really understand much about the manipulation of society but I did enjoy reading about the overthrow of the farm and watching how all the animals fitted into the heirarchy within their very own community. This book cna be confusing to some young readers but I think that overall it is a really good read and recomend it to anybody who loves to read.
