Animal learning and cognition, by John Pearce (Animal Learning and Cognition - John Pearce)
Advantages: Good introduction Disadvantages: None
This is an excellent introductory textbook for animal learning theory, an important division of most undergraduate psychology courses. It covers basic animal learning theory, describing classic experiments by Kamin, Rescorla etc. In clear language, it explains learning theory, covering Pearce-Hall model and Rescorla-Wagner model. It also covers other aspects of animal cognition, including experiments examing reasoning and language ability in non human primates. This is the best introductory textbook on the market for undergraduate psychology, and it is also accessible to anyone interested in animal learning. Summary: |
