Advantages: A good autobiography and some sounf business advice

Disadvantages: none

You will probably best know Duncan Bannatyne from the BBC TV program Dragon's Den, where five entrepreneurs have business ideas presented to them and they decide whether they are going to invest in these ideas.

It is so easy to think from watching Dragon's Den that these 'dragons' of industry have all had a sound academic business education, you know the business degree, and a foot in the door due to family connections, old boy network etc.

And while that may be true for many in business, it is not so for Duncan Bannatyne.

Without giving too much away about the book. Duncan is typical of a 'rags to riches' story. He grew up in Clydebank where men were men and the working class didn't do things like run businesses.

We get to see in this book what drove Duncan Bannatyne to decide that he wanted to be where he is today, and how he got to that place,

There is, as expected with any autobiography, the childhood and early years, and whilst this is incidental to many peoples life, we see why it has such an effect and influence in shaping his life.

We also get a fair crack at seeing the softer side of this, no nonsense character and his admirable work for charity.

OK, an autobiography is a life story, buI fell the USP of this book is its motivational message - it is there in the title.

As well as his life story we are getting some sound business and advice and some exposure of the real greedy hangers-on there are in business (think of the types that have recently brought the credit crunch about), We see how these greedy, greedy people get rich.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in business at whatever level, whether you are selling on ebid.net or running a huge concern.

Summary: A motivational read
