Advantages: Writes fantastic stories, Easy to read
Disadvantages: Has had some bad press and may not be Mr Perfect to a lot of people.
I don’t know how popular I’ll be for saying this but what the heck; I don’t worry too much about that anyway. I have no interest in politics, scandals, what a writer has done in his past or what he does in the future. I just like to read books, good ones if possible and I have found that Jeffrey Archer is a pretty safe bet as far as my tastes go. His books are usually long, which I don’t mind, there’s no hurry to get to the end of a good story. His books are also really easy to read, you don’t feel like you have to think too much about what you’re reading, you just get on with it and read the story. Sometimes I start a book and can’t finish it because it’s hard to get into and I end up falling asleep every time I try, I’ve NEVER had this problem with Jeffrey Archer books, and for that I feel thankful. The first book of his I read was Kane and Abel. I saw the serial on the TV first and liked it, so I figured if he could write such a good story then I’d give his books a try. Even though my friends said bad things about his character and things he’s done in his life. I’m glad I did because I have found that he writes wonderful stories and I feel that I can identify with his characters most of the time even though they have very different lives to my own. I have bought and like all of his books but I think my favourite is As the Crow Flies. The concept of the Eleventh Commandment is good too; thou shall not get caught! I hope that I have given at least one person who might have ignored his books because of his reputation the thought that they might at least try to read one.

- 14/07/01 Good op. I have to agree. He gets slated by the critics and high-brow people but his books are highly readable. |
