I was first introduced to the Artemis Fowl books by my little brother (now 20, just realised that makes him sound like a tiny child!). He was bought the first book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is a pretty good judge of literature so it got passed to my mum, who also enjoyed it. By the time the subsequent books came along there was four adults arguing over who got to read it first! The Author The books are written by Eoin (pronounced Owen as it says on the back of the books!) Colfer. He was brought ip in south-east Ireland and still lives there. Artemis Fowl, the best fourteen year old in the world when it comes to both interfering with and saving the very existence of the world of Fairy, has got it hard in this, his fourth full-length adventure. He has a female rival, of similar age. And he at last has puberty - affecting his brains, slowing his thought processes, diverting his attentions. But the world of Fairy needs to call on the boy from Ireland they have hated to love and loved to hate before now to save them. Characters: The Lost Colony features all the favourite characters: Foaly, and his inability to keep from boasting about his genius works of technology. Mulch, with his infamous ‘bum flap’ which you would not want in your face for obvious reasons… Butler, and his single- minded protection of Artemis out of both love and duty. Holly, who cannot sit by and let ... Read the complete review

Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony is the latest of Eoin Colfer's successful line of books. The stories so far have been about a young boy named Artemis Fowl, who is a chid genius and one of the most intelligent people in the world, he has the highest IQ in Europe. Artemis has had dealings with fairies who live underground, taking their gold but helping them as well. This new story is about a group or species of fairy who did not want to be forced underground by humans like the other fairies, instead they froze themselves in time to prevent anyone attacking them. But now demons are popping up everywhere. Together Artemis and the fairies, one in particular, Holly ... Read the complete review
