Advantages: Best book of series.

Disadvantages: Not as good as Harry Potter

The Artemis Fowl series is considered by many people as the next best series for teenagers after Harry Potter. Usually books with dwarfs, elves and the like put me off ( with the exception of Harry Potter) but this book in my opinion is the best of a series nearly as good as Harry Potter.
It is quite hard to write a review of the second book of a series without mentioning the first book so if you wish to read the first book then it might be an idea to turn away. In the first book Artemis Fowl kidnaps an elf called Captian Holly Short who works for LEP the underground police. In a very exciting book ending with catastrophic results bad news is inevitable to both species. Artemis Fowl however came out with the money and after restoring his mother's sanity it seemed he would have to stop spending all his time on criminal plots. Or at the very least he would have to hide it.
On this book however I will not contain any spoilers but a hint on what happens on the first fifty pages. Fairies underground have huge problems of their own. They suspect humans are working with goblins. This could spell annihillation to all fairies underneath the world. And which human in question does Captian Holly Short think is helping the goblin gangs.
Meanwhile Artemis Fowl's father has been found and the Russian mafia has kidnapped him and held him for ransom. So the kidnapper neads help with a kidnapping. Can Artemis help the fairies and can the fairies help Artemis? Also can Artemis and Holly put aside their differences and become friends? Or will they always be enemies? Read the book to find out.
I would thoroughly recommend the read of the book to children of all ages but is not as readable to adults as the last few Harry POtter books have been. This is an exciting novel and in my opinion the best of the series and a must read. Thank you for reading this review. I hope it helps you on making your decision on considering buying this book.
