I'm going to base this review on the premise that anyone who reads it is already familiar with who Richard Hammond is, so will avoid any biographical details or cover his other publications and focus entirely on this book.

First off this book consists of Richards own personal account of various 'Topgear' challenges which have occurred over the years, along with an account of a documentary he performed in outlining the career of Eval Knieval.

The first story covers his own account of his journey to the north pole with a team of working dogs. If you've seen the episode you'll be familiar with the race he had with his two topgear colleages. In this account Richard provides mildly humerous commentary on the difficulties he faces during the journey.

During subsequent accounts richard covers his journey across africa in an old Opel Cadet, proving that if you live in the UK you really have no need for a 4*4 car. Also covered is the topgear teams construction of amphibious cars.

This is a decent 'holiday' book. Good for a once over read but not something you'll return to. It provides a more individual perspective on a lot of material which has already been on TV
