Advantages: Clear and well explained

Disadvantages: may not look as deep into the subject as you'd like if you are already familiar with ASP

Your first impression of this book is that it's big, even by computer book standards. However it is the first computer book I have managed to read cover to cover and keep returning to it as a reference. It starts from the very basics working it's way down to the nitty gritty of ASP, the subject is explained very well throughout and the examples are very clear giving you whole scripts rather than snippets so that you can see how the whole thing functions.

Don't be put off by the 'Beginning' in the title the book still runs deep into it's subject matter and is an excellent place to start if you are new to ASP, whether you have programmed before or not. However if you are an experienced ASP programmer this tome may not look deeply enough for you and you may prefer to look at the Professional edition in this series.

Apart from this book, what else would I need to learn/start using ASP?

It is the perfect start, and the downloadable examples are very useful
