Christopher Brookmyre is a fairly well known Scottish author who writes what is referred to as Tartan Noir. Tartan Noir draws on traditions of Scottish Literature and often tends towards the cynical. Typical Tartan Noir usually featues anti-heroes as protagonists - the reader is not automatically going to like them much. Other Tartan Noir writers include Ian Rankin and Val McDermid. Brookmyre's books are varied in content but are always sharp and insightful. He is very good at including politics in his writing - often to take a poke at them. I am not a huge fan of ficton I normally prefer Autobiographies and biographies but I was intrigued by the title of this book. I am quite a believer in the paranormal to this book was right up my alley. The book can jump from one character to the other in the beginning but it is like a jigsaw puzzle, it all fits into place. It is a story of two people who trying to prove how people are conned by psychics & mediums. Jack Parlablane is a journalist who is involved in a scientific tests at Kelvin University set in Glasgow.
