This book is set in the ski resort of Les Hauts des Aigles and as the title suggests it involves an avalanche. Thousands of people flock to the resort to watch the Race du Diable which is billed as the most thrilling downhill race in the world with its own unique once in a lifetime prize. To get you interested in the book it's billed as: when the avalanche comes, only 3 things can save them. Fate, courage and the will to live. The book centres around the days before the race and around the inevitable avalanche. There is nice descriptive detail of all the places involved and of all the characters.
