I got this book with the other Janet Evanovich book I received. I got both of them through Bookcrossing.com. I didn't prefer this book over "Love Overboard" and you will see why later on...
The saying: 'don't judge a book by its cover' totally applies to this book, as this cover is pretty off-putting and one I wouldn't pick up in a shop. However the story line is really really good and surprised me by the fact that the cover didn't suit the book too well.
Janet Evanovich is a pretty good writer, I have now read a whole count of 2 books from her, as you'll able to see, as the review I wrote a few weeks ago is called "Love Overboard" which happens to be another one of Janet Evanovich books, I shall be adding her books to my wish list so that I can read them all as that is what I want to do. Will the other books be as good? Maybe, maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see.
Two neighbours are brought together in this fantastic novel! A new person has bought the property next to Katherine. He is called David Dodd, he has liked Katherine from the start but never had the intension of going over there and having a proper chat, well not until a massive helicopter decides to drop something through Catherine's roof, what makes it worse is that it is raining, and it shatters a hole in the roof right where her only piece of furniture is: THE BED! This bed is really expensive and she is devastated that there's a stupid hole in the roof. David decides to come over and lend a hand.
Then Elsie Hawkins turns up wanting to rent a room. Katherine then realises she has put an advertisement in the paper, and so here is Elsie... Thing with Elsie is that she is old, and she has a shot gun, she is real crazy but is such a brilliant character to put into this misty relationship... The story goes on and on and you have no idea where you'll end up! I just couldn't stop reading!
I had a little few problems with this book, but doesn't everyone have problems with different books? I thought there was something missing, I don't know what, maybe an extra character might make this book better, but to be totally honest I haven't got a clue what made me think this is missing something, there just is okay?
Enough about the bad points, here's a few good points... It draws you in straight away, and you don't know where you'll end up, the crazy dramatic plot lines surprises me now and again and this is a Janet Evanovich sort of writing style (I presume) and I just fall in love with the way she makes the audience believe something is going to happen, and the audience is totally wrong, this may annoy people but I love it!
Well that's it guys, I'm sorry that this seems such a short review, but I sure hope it helps others to make up their mind on this book! Thanks for reading!
