After reading a few of her previous novels, Bad heir Day was a gift to me from my mum for Christmas as she was really pleased she remembered who I had been reading and the one's that I hadn't yet read. I started reading her books from the most recent first but have now backtracked and Bad Heir Day was Holden's second novel, following Simply Divine which I am yet to read. I like chick-lit and Wendy Holden novels do tend to keep me interested without flicking a few pages forward and Bad heir day although it took me longer to finish as I was not as into it as her other novels it was still a pretty good read. Anna Farrier is the main ... Read the complete review

Yes, yes, I'm feeling rather opinionated this weekend. Nothing hormonal just that I have a thousand buzzing opinions in my head and boy have I got a bee in my bonnet about this book. I enjoy those throw away chick bubblegum pink books as much as the next sentimental fool. But this book really is a big pile of hot steaming cow plop and I am annoyed that I ever put my foot in it. Can't I just leave my op at that or shall I expand so you can avoid this book? Now before I begin to talk about the plot which is about as wafer thin as Kate Moss on a diet, can I just say that I absolutely hate being totally against a book. I have searched for some ... I was given this book as an anniversay gift by my husband, mainly as it siad on the cover it was about a girl Anna who ends up being a nanny...I was a nanny! Oh how true to life it was,the oh so famous people in it are very real and anyone who has worked for people in the media and related careers will agree with me the nanny can make or break the day of a wannabe by simply saying 'you look nice'!The book is of course very tongue in cheek Anna thought she was going to get an aprentiship with a novelist but finds herself doing the washing cooking and looking after the brat from hell! Her only way out is to marry rich and so the modern day sloaney cinderella comes ... Read the complete review

Bad Heir Day is the second novel by Wendy Holden, former glossy magazine contributor, her first being Simply Divine. Bad Heir Day, whilst not being brilliant, is quite an entertaining and light (very light) read. Holden's style is polished although her humour feels a little too polished often false and sometimes a wee bit cringy. She can also be quite unnecessarily crude. The story follows poor frumpy old Anna who having just been dumped by rich boy Seb finds herself working for a popluar bonkbuster author Cassandra Knight as a nanny. ( As a wannabe writer Anna thought she was going to get some hands on writing experience not spolit tantrum ... Read the complete review

I read Wendy Holden's first novel Simply Divine and found it just that a Simply Divine read so when I saw that her second novel Bad Heir day was on offer for 50p from Mango as part of the introductory offer I snapped it up. I wasn't disappointed as it was just as good as the first the only problem I had was finding some spare time to read it. It tells the story of Anna who lives with Seb who is a complete tosser and she is looking for somewhere new to live. She is an inpyring writer but has no experience so she applies for a job with a published authour with writers block called Cassandra who hires her as a live in nanny. Not exactly what Anna ...
