Too Close to Home - Linwood Barclay
by Gemma_C - written on 13/06/09 (Very useful, 115 readings)
Rating:
I came across Linwood Barclay after reading No Time for Goodbye, which was a huge bestseller, mainly because it was a Richard & Judy summe read winner. I really enjoyed No Time for Goodbye, it reminded me of Harlan Coben s books, so when I saw Too Close To Home I decided to give it a go. = About the Author = Linwood Barclay was born in the states but moved to Canada when he was 4 years old. He has an Honours B.A. in English from Trent University and worked for the Toronto Star newspaper before he retired in 2008 to concentrate just on books. His first standalone thriller, No Time for Goodbye, was a huge success and quickly became a bestseller in the UK and around ...

be worth listening too... just on the simple fact that the plot is so clever and well thought out. I am now currently looking for other books written by Linwood Barkclay as she is, what seems as a very good writer. I don t want to give too much away - a girl wakes up no-ones home... Barkley takes you on a journey 20 something years after this situation happened... the girl has grown up and is trying to find out why her family got up and left after an arguement the night before. It s completely unpredictable and all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together perfectly at end of book, but you are unable to figure it out the whole way through - BRILLIANT!!! It keeps you on ...

my mind before I d even read the first page which I think is a sign of a good book! I quickly did a little research on the author, Linwood Barclay, and found that he s quite a popular thriller writer but I had never heard of him before, not surprising really considering this isn t my usual genre of choice. I dove straight into the book, pleased to see that the book actually began at the beginning of the mystery back in 1983, giving us a glimpse into Cynthia s life and also the discovery of her missing family. These first few pages were told in the third person, which I presumed was how the rest of the book was going to be told, but after this short part was over, the ...
