Fantastic author who deserves more publicity (David Baldacci in general)

Advantages: Exciting, Great characters, Superb plots

Disadvantages: Not enough of his books about

Much like “dotchristine”, I too stumbled upon this author by accident. The first book of his I bought was Total Power. Quite simply, I could not put it down. When I finished it I went straight out and get another of his books, then another, then another.

His writing keeps you on the very edge of your seat, you cannot wait to turn the next page. He writes with such understanding and detail that you think he must have had experience of all the characters he writes about – but that would be impossible, wouldn’t it?

He characters are completely believable and the plots intriguing and highly detailed. I am an avid reader, particularly of thrillers and crime novels and have read many good books and many not so good, but Baldacci’s are good – very good. Another plus point is that each of his books is so different. Many authors write similar tales, based loosly around the same topic or characters. There is nothing wrong with this when done right, such as Jeffery Deaver or James Patterson, but many fail to reach this pinnacle – John Grisham comes to mind. Baldacci is different, every novel different and every character new.

I would strongly recommend anyone who hasn’t read one of his books, to do so. My personal favourites are Total Control and The Winner.
