Johnson Beharry was a poor lad from Grenada. He joined the British army, served in Iraq, nearly got killed twice and won Victoria Cross for bravely when he rescued his colleagues twice from immense danger. He hurt himself badly while on duty. His bravery and behaviour in the army shows him to be a great character that thoroughly deserved the medal. Although injured Beharry won’t be poor again. This book deal is worth £1 million to him. The book first tells of his life outside the army, he talks about the people who inspired him and he also describes the life in army comprehensively with gruesome details. This book is one which the women on the rearparty forums recommended as one to read, particularly for those those partners have been to Iraq as a way to give them an idea of what those men (and women) had to deal with. The book opens telling us about one of the incidents for which he was awarded the VC, then flicks back in time to his childhood in Grenada, though at first you dont know this. The imaginings of a chidl who loves cars and pretends to be driving down a familiar road.
