The Horrible Histories series of books has become an addiction of mine, ever since I picked up my first, The Gorgeous Gerogians, form a charity shop a couple of months ago. Since then, I've read, and reviewed several more . My collection recieved a huge boost last tuesday when I went to charity shop and picked up 10 books in the series for a mere 29 pence each. The Horrible Histories series is published by scholastic, and is written by Terry Deary, who has authored some 200 books, and illustrated by Martin Brown . There are a few authors which take me back to my childhood. Alongside Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Inkpen and Roger Hargrieves, theres Terry Deary. He writes a series of childrens books called Horrible Histories, and one of these is Barmy British Empire. Cover: You should never judge a book by its cover, but I must admit, I do do it! The cover of this particular book is attractive. It has a lot of bright colours with a dashing blue sky as the main colour. There is a statue aside a guard, and people in the distance coming towards them. it is very exciting indeed!
