Sin City: Hell and Back - Frank Miller

Premium Review A Sin City Love Story (424 words)

Rating:

and he doesn t let anyone get in his way, not even when assassins appear. The scene of colour is because he ends up getting drugged up which allows Frank Miller to have some real fun with the artwork. Along with hallucinating a dinosaur he manages to run into a few familiar faces; expect cameos from Captain America, Rambo, Clint Eastwood, Zorro and all of your favourite Miller characters. Other than this world of colour the artwork is the same as the previous six Sin City books where the only colours are the occasional blue eyes, red lips and blonde hair. After just reading it again for this review I have remembered why I read this one first, not only is it the best ...

Sin City: Booze, Broads, and Bullets - Frank Miller

Premium Review I hold her close until she's gone... I'll cash her check in ... (408 words)

Most people will have come across the Sin City film over the last few years, but not everyone has gotten around to reading the 7 books from which the stories are taken from. The film featured stories from 3 of the 7 books, with at least 2 other films announced it is possible some of the other books will be appearing in them. However this is one book that won't be appearing in any of them, at least not in full. Booze, Broads & Bullets is a collection of short stories from the Sin City world which are around 20 pages in length each. Some of your favourite characters, like Marv, pop up inside this book along with the introduction of some new characters, such as Delia ...

Absolute Ronin - Frank Miller

Premium Review A samurai in New York (274 words)
by daemonicragnorak - written on 26/04/09 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

Frank Miller is regarded as one of the best comic writers of all time and all of us have come across his work, even if only in films. He is the writer responsible for the 300 and Sin City graphics novels, as well as the revolutionary Dark Knight Returns. In Ronin he teams up with Lynn Varley, after working with her to produce the Dark Knight books, to produce this rather obscure piece of work about a master-less samurai fighting to kill a demon called Agat. The first part of the story is set an Japan's history which results in the Ronin and Agat being held captive inside a magic sword. It then propels us into the future, in the middle of New York, where it has become ...
