An extremely helpful book to new owners

Recently I purchased some Bearded Dragons and I am someone who has to know everything there is to know about a new animal before making that purchase.

I needed to find a book which explained to me everything you would need to know about the species but explaining everything in an easy to read guide.

I have to admit I rarely sit down and read a book on of any description due to my attention span and patience with reading.

Searching online I managed to find the Bearded Dragon Pet Expert book which has 192 pages full of information and pictures to help a potential new owner understand and appreciate the task of looking after this lovely natured creature.

When I got the book I was kind of nervous about whether information stored inside would benefit me. In the past books like this have often provided very little information and contained mainly pictures without any sort of information to assist you.

You're provided with a contents page which displays all the various areas you can get information for. I needed to know about everything so the first chapter which is based on the history of the Bearded Dragons was a real insight to the species.

The writing in this book is done on lovely glossy paper which helps highlights the pictures much better. The writing is not large and over the top it is a perfect size and written in an easy to understand manner.
You're not given huge words which require a dictionary to find the true meaning and there is no sentence which fails to make sense. Comparing this again to other books about various breeds of species you can sometimes get annoyed by how difficult they are to read.

Reading through this book I began to notice I gained knowledge so quickly because the book highlighted key areas instantly at the start of each chapter. The pictures displayed help as a reference to what the text was saying. The pictures were not in any way displaying images which might scare some people.

When you are reading through this book you find that although it is a small book overall that within an hour you're almost finished and your left with plenty of knowledge about this new animal. I like how the book is structured because it is not in your face immediately.

Your given information on the history straight away to let you gain an understanding about the animal and then the book slowly goes through various chapters which include health, handling, colours, diet and more.

My biggest concerns about purchasing this new pet was the diet and the vivarium which you keep them in. The handling seemed pretty basic to me but the diet was always something I worried about. Online you can read so many variations of food diets and you are slightly confused as to what will work for you.

This book though has in my view one issue and that is the diet section. You're told about how you can use leaves in the diet but it never displays clearly what you can and cannot use. This is the biggest problem in the book and the worst chapter overall.

You're told so much information on other areas and I was left disappointed by how this one chapter failed to provide much information or even pictures to help you see what will work best.

I found the behaviour chapter amazing as the information was so helpful and it would give any new owner peace of mind. With a dog we know that barking is for a reason and so is panting but what is the bearded dragon does something strange?

The behaviour section was perhaps the most informative and provided excellent help and I sometimes refer back to this chapter when I am not 100% sure on what the problem might be with my bearded dragons.

Since reading this book and gaining that extra confidence I eventually went out and purchased my little terrors as I call them and have had them now for 6 months. This book even though the one chapter I needed help on was a let-down it has been a great reference for me to return to when I need help.
If your someone who is unsure about how to care or need that extra bit of information on the bearded dragons this is a great read and extremely helpful. I did pay £6.99 for this book and it was worth every penny.
