I have been on a quest recently to find books that my almost six year old daughter can read for herself. I have found a real gem in this book - Because a Little Bug went Ka-choo! It is a 'Cat in the Hat - I can read it all by myself' book and it is brilliant. My daughter absolutely loves it! It is described as a 'marvellous, merry, madcap adventure that is written just using one hundred and twenty different words. This is really good as it does not require an amazingly extensive vocabulary and also because most of those words are phonically regular so children can apply all that early phonic knowledge when reading.
