      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I was never a major football supporter, but over the time that Beckham has been playing for Manchester United, we have started watching the odd match. My husband was working overtime at the Manchester United -v- Aston Villa Match, in his capacity as a policeman and was just escorting the supporters off the ground, when he spotted a mercedes stuck in the middle of the exiting crowds. He went over and knocked on the window, and who should be driving? No other than David Beckham. He asked my husband if he could be given a police escort out of the stadium, and my husband replied "Only if my wife can have your signature!". And so, we have a Pocket Evidence Notebook, with David's signature on it, and my husband says that despite all the press about, Beckham being this, that and the other, that in his own opinion, after a two minute meeting, he seemed genuine, warm and very friendly. Maybe instead of shouting unpleasant and obsence chants about him and his family, supporters should maybe remember that he is only a fellow human, who has a talent. And if he was their father or brother, he would be the best thing since sliced bread. The motto: If you can't go out and do what he does as well as he does, give it a rest! And yes, I have read his book, and it is okay - nothing to write home about...mostly pictures about him and his family, it did seem a bit disjointed, but then he is a footballer, not a writer, and I get the impression he just wanted to air his feelings with Man U and Alex Ferguson. It won't take you long to read!
